Janae Gravitz is a career coach, leadership coach, and instructor. She has more than 15 years of experience in the public and private sectors, where she has helped executives, entry-level talent, and mid-level managers find work they love and excel in their careers.

Janae is the Founder of True You Career Coaching, where she works with individuals to achieve their personal and professional goals and better align who they are with the work they do. Janae’s work helps her clients better understand what they’re good at (strengths), what they love to do (passions), and what’s most important to them (values). Her goal is to help people at any age or stage of their career know themselves better and find greater fulfillment.

As a leadership coach, Janae cares deeply about developing compassionate and effective leaders. She believes in the power of leadership to help others unlock their potential, maximize their strengths, and achieve organizational goals. She coaches leaders to provide effective feedback, develop talent, and manage high-performing teams. Janae is especially passionate about equipping first-time managers with the tools they need to succeed.

In addition to coaching, Janae serves as adjunct faculty at Georgetown University, where she teaches the Talent Acquisition & Management Course in the Master of Human Resources Management program. Janae draws upon 12 years of experience in recruiting to provide students with an engaging and applicable learning environment.

Prior to her coaching career, Janae served as Director of Talent Acquisition at TEGNA, a broadcast media company based in Northern Virginia. She led the recruiting function during a time of organizational transformation, including a spinoff from prior owner, Gannett Co., Inc., the largest U.S. newspaper publisher. She also spent four years in executive search, where she placed more than 55 leaders at large retail and consumer brands around the country. Janae’s recruiting career began in government, at the White House Office of Presidential Personnel and then the U.S. Department of Transportation. She has interviewed thousands of talented people over the years and loves to find the right match between an individual’s unique strengths and an organization’s needs.

Janae lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and two daughters and serves on the board of Higher Achievement, a nonprofit organization that provides tutoring and mentoring to middle school students.
