Bette George

Bette George is a Leadership Coach and Consultant who works with individuals committed to personal and professional growth.  Bette is known, as a visionary and a pragmatist who brings her special expertise and passion to partner with leaders to step forward to meet 21st century challenges.  She believes we have a shared responsibility to create a sustainable future…to ensure the common well-being, to build a human community, and to protect our environment for future generations. 

 

Bette’s coaching and consulting practice is built upon thirty years of experience as an educator, business owner and management consultant. She combines organization development experience, including groundbreaking work in diversity, with a new appreciation for the power and potential of the purposeful conversation that helps clients embrace the conflicting demands, emotions and challenges in a workplace and world that require extraordinary presence.

 

As an OD professional, Bette has consulted with organizations nationwide to develop and implement strategies to create inclusive, respectful and productive work environments where people can thrive in support of organizational goals. She has conducted cultural audits, coached senior leaders and teams, designed and led workshops for managers at all levels on managing change, emotional intelligence, communicating with power and presence, conflict management, preventing sexual harassment and working effectively with diversity.

 

Bette brings this extensive experience to her leadership coaching practice utilizing a highly interactive and supportive process that allows leaders to apply a systems perspective, become self-observers, practice new ways of thinking and behaving, assess effectiveness and become self-corrective. Focusing on myriad challenges including transition to a new role, navigating organizational change, strengthening interpersonal skill, improving results and the “bottom-line,” Bette’s clients embark on a journey of self- discovery that is both developmental and transformational. She has developed a pragmatic, outcome-based approach to coaching that builds on the natural strengths of the leaders with whom she works. Partnering with her clients, she encourages innovative thinking and supports the creation of a vision and plan for the future based on personal and organizational goals.

 

Bette received her Master of Science degree in Organization Development from The American University/NTL Institute and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a minors in Psychology and English from the University of Virginia. She is a graduate of the Georgetown University Leadership Coaching Certificate Program and served on the faculty of that program as a Learning Circle Advisor. She has achieved the designation by the International Coaching Federation of Professional Certified Coach.
